Your perspective is very similar to my own. I have read that in Hinduism, God didn't labor to create the universe, but rather played it into existence. I know from my own experience that love, creativity, playfulness, joy and laughter (the gentle, childlike, from the heart variety, not the cruel or spiteful kind) are forms of communion with the Divine. I think this is why dogmatic, fundamentalist religions frown on those things. Dogma's purpose is to control people and turn them into mindless, easily herded sheep, not to help them experience Divine love and joy. That's why they want you serious and scared rather than joyful and loving.
