The Power of the Holy Spirit

To Brendalee: Yes, I do believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. I believe in speaking in tongues as a gift and as a means of individual prayer. I believe God can heal and do unbelievable miracles. But I also believe that many who disagree on doctrinal matters in the Body of Christ will be in heaven with the rest of us. Why? Because some of every tribe, nation, and tongue will be around the throne of God with those who do believe in miracles and tongues, according to Revelations. I am not condoning a general spirituality in any way! The defining saving doctrine is believing in the death of Christ as the atonement for our sins, as individuals. It is just that the power of the Holy Spirit is not manifested in miracles alone. Jesus had 34 miracles documented during His ministry on earth. Of course, many more must have occurred, but it was the preaching of the Word of God that also has the power of the Holy Spirit, and that was the main focus of His ministry. He was anointed to heal the brokenhearted, and set the captives free, primarily through the power of the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, which He embodied. So, when attempting to discern those who do not acknowledge the power of the Holy Spirit, do not forget that many of our brothers and sisters who do not speak in tongues, do believe and heal via the preaching and speaking of the Word into the hearts and lives of the lost and broken. Thanks for reading my humble opinion.
