If you have a ball in water and try and get it to come towards you... Most people's instant reaction is to splash, thus causing the ball to move further away. When we open our arms this causes the water to move towards us and thus carrying the ball with it.... So it's not by grasping after ideas that we solve them, yet when we sit back and accept the ideas that they come to us. This same thing happens when we loose something, the more we search for it the more we panic and the less we remember, when we think about something else we remember where we placed the item.
If we hide away from people in solitude to find enlightenment, when we come back among people does it prepare us for the shock? So is that truly enlightenment? If we first learn the balance of a boat, then learn to stand in a boat on a calm day, then learn to paddle the boat standing up, and finally have an engine and stand up, when a storm comes, we are use to the balance.
